Chippewa County has a high school graduation rate of nearly 100% with access to a higher education system. The Chippewa Valley Technical College services the technical training needs of the entire area with numerous associate degree and vocational educational programs. The Chippewa Valley Center of Lakeland University provides four-year college program degrees to working people in business administration, computer science and accounting. The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire offers over 40 major undergraduate programs in arts and science, nursing, teaching and business administration.


Transportation Connections

Highways

Chippewa County is served by a network of U.S. and State Highways. USH 53 and STH 27, 40, 124, and 178 run north and south through the County. STH64 and 29 run east and west.  US 53 and STH 29 are 4-lane highways.  Many other county and town roads connect with these highways to link the cities, villages, and recreational areas in the County.

Air Service

The County has two publicly-owned airports. The Chippewa Valley Regional Airport is located on the southern edge of Chippewa County, within the city limits of Eau Claire. It provides scheduled passenger and freight service. A basic utility-A airport is located at Cornell. The Minneapolis International Airport is just a hour interstate drive on I-94 from Chippewa County.

Rail Service

Chippewa County is served by three railroads—the Union Pacific (UP), Progressive Rail (PGR), and the Canadian National (CN). The CN runs east and west, serving the communities of Boyd, Stanley, Cadott, and Chippewa Falls. The PGR Railroad runs north and south, serving the communities. of New Auburn and Bloomer, and parts of the Chippewa Falls area. The UP serves Chippewa Falls-Eau Claire Urban Area. Bus Service

Chippewa County is served by two Jefferson Lines intercity bus routes. Service between the Twin Cities and Green Bay along STH 29, stops in Chippewa Falls and Stanley. Service between Chippewa Falls and Duluth, MN has Chippewa County stops in Chippewa Falls and Bloomer.
